Pocket Vol. 8
Welcome to Pocket Volume 8.
Scandinavia has become the Mecca of skateboard events. The kind of formats the skate community cares about. These events were a great excuse to travel up north, meet old friends, and make new ones.
Our summer of 2022 consisted of lots of back and forth between several Scandinavian countries and our home turf. And we did not mind it. The energy is incredible. The further north you go, the longer the days are. At least in summer. But that’s the point. Having very limited hours of daylight in winter, sometimes none at all sparks a different energy when it’s the season to make the most out of every day. Essentially the way we are supposed to live and feel every day, no matter where we are on this planet.
First, we take you to Norway, more precisely Oslo and Tromsø, where we celebrate seemingly endless daylight. After that, Thomas Gentsch carries you through his CPH Open memories and then, just across the bridge from Copenhagen, the students at Bryggeriets Gymnasium present their school to the world. In Malmö, we got to know Vilma, who was also part of the class that designed the school articles. We were happy to invite her on our trip to Andalusia, where we took the Scandinavians out for a winter escape. Your favorite skaters on a fun vacation. Wrapping Volume 8 up is Fabien Ponsero’s XPAN feature, a unique aesthetic we’ve always loved and are happy to finally print more of. Enjoy.
