Skateboarding in front of the State Parliament, music theater in the opera house: two parallel worlds that had nothing to do with each other? Opéra de la Beast invited skateboarders to a major skateboard event around the historic Stuttgart State Opera house.
Where opera-goers usually entered through the doors, skate obstacles from IOU Ramps were set up over the grand staircase of the opera house for a weekend. A large skateboard contest took place there and on other obstacles in front of the opera house, with a total prize pool of €5000 to be won.
Local DJs, the fabulous new wave and electro-indi phenomenon and good friend of ARROW & BEAST Flawless Issues performed during the day, together with a selection of the State Opera's musical ensemble and Stine Marie Fischer as joinedas a vocalist. And it became evident: skateboarding could also be grand opera!
The crowd and performance level at this skate event was through the roof , with national and iternational guests as well as roughly 1000 people over the day. The participants list hosted a high caliber roster with Daniel Ledermann, Justin Sommer, Kevin White, Christoph Friedmann, Denis Nitsche, Davide Holzknecht, and many more. Reece Knobloch took home the first place, followed by Denny Pham and Niels Bennett from the USA.
